Taking the Indie Scene by Storm: Susannah Joffe’s “Your Mothers Name”

By Molly Greco

Susannah Joffe is a queer artist looking to make her breakthrough in the indie scene in the music industry. After her latest single “Your Mothers Name,” she is nothing short of the next big indie artist. With inspirations stemming from artists like Taylor Swift and Clario, Joffe is emulating all of her indie idols and creating her own sound. After months of promoting this song, she finally released her first single from her soon to be announced EP and is taking the indie scene by storm.

Joffe’s freshly released song, “Your Mothers Name” is a beautifully written, but heartbreaking story about hardened mothers who are bitter that their young love never worked out. They blame their kids for their failed marriages, so their kid anticipates a heartbreak they will never bounce back from. Behind the genius and heart-wrenching lyricism, the song has quite a groovy and upbeat sound you’d like to dance to. She knows how to get to the heart of the indie kids, carefully disguising a sad song as a happy one.

Joffe has much more on the way –  between her newly announced song “My Dog Died” that comes out on July 28 (you can pre-save now!!)  and her upcoming EP, this is only the beginning of big things from her
