Clover County explores what it means to love on “Glass & Gold”

Words by Hannah George

Now, I’m not one for love songs, but Clover County might be launching me into my soft girl era.

Known for her smooth vocals and lyrics on modern love, singer-songwriter A.G. Schiano, widely known as Clover County, is on the rise in the Athens music scene — the scene that birthed R.E.M. and the B-52’s. Clover’s first single, “Outlaw,” combines buttery vocals with elegant, fairy-tale lyrics that have enticed listeners and kept them wanting more. The release of her second single, “Glass & Gold” has done just the same.

“Glass & Gold” is a beautiful song that explores the feelings surrounding heartbreak that come from speaking to a past lover and asking whether he ever even truly cared for her. She is clinging to a love that the man she might have never really known at all has up and left. The heartrending lyrics and acoustic sound combine together to give a bit of a small-town feel, true to Athens fashion. The lyrics come from the soul and create a dreamy ambiance, wherever you might be listening.

Clover County only has two singles on Spotify currently, but we are dying for more. Her effortless vocals, beautiful instrumentals, and vivid songwriting are things other up-and-coming artists in the indie scene should be taking note of. It is some of the freshest music you will find on any music platform right now. If you don’t believe us, listen for yourself and prepare to obsess over something new.
