Lionel Richie Blessed Philadelphia with an Intimate Performance

While I was growing up, my dad was always putting on his favorite music for me to listen to, and Lionel Richie was one of the artists I heard constantly. When I was invited to see Lionel’s show at Union Transfer on March 29th, I was so thrilled and knew that I had to bring my dad along with me. Safe to say excited was an understatement, and we were blown away with the night we were greeted with.

When we entered the venue, we were adorned with VIP passes and entered the lounge to an activity where we could paint some vinyls. My dad was super stoked about this and reminisced on Spin Art that he used to do all the time in the ‘80s. We grabbed a drink and some snacks and headed up to the balcony to snag a prime viewing spot.

The concert was apart of Wells Fargo Autograph Card Exclusives series, which launched in November 2023 with an exclusive Mumford & Sons concert in Los Angeles and more recent concerts featuring Imagine Dragons, Brandi Carlile, Maluma, and Halsey! Autograph Card Exclusives provides Autograph Credit cardholders with access to concerts, showcasing big-name artists in small venues. With this offering, Wells Fargo Autograph Credit cardholders gain access to acclaimed artists, while experiencing the incredible feeling that only live entertainment can provide. We were so grateful to cover this exclusive event, and attendees enjoyed every second of the incredible experience!

As the lights went down, excitement filled the air as Lionel Richie took the stage and began his legendary performance with “Hello”. As the show progressed, Richie performed both solo tunes and some songs from his time with The Commodores, such as “Sail On” and “Three Times a Lady”. You couldn't have wiped the smile off my dads face if you tried! Lionel Richie is proof that if you love what you do, it truly shows! He was fantastic with the crowd, interacting with fans and cracking jokes all night. He even brought a fan on stage to sign her arm so she could later get it tattooed!

The show ended with an encore of “All Night Long” and Richie was joined on stage by some fans who had the experience of a lifetime dancing with him! Overall, it was a wonderful night for Lionel Richie fans who got to see an intimate show with an incredible artist. He played so many of his greatest hits, and I was truly so grateful I got to have experienced this with my dad.
