Step into this open-concept Wallows tune that is reminiscent of romances that used to feel like summer, but now feel like a prolonged winter. Injected with the band’s signature gut-punching drums and equally heart-wrenching lyrics, the walls of the apartment may be closing in on an inevitable end but the steadily circular guitar riff keeps you hypnotized. ‘Your Apartment’ is an instant classic.

With songs that increasingly feel larger-than-life, Wallows put out their first single since the release of their sophomore album Tell Me That It’s Over and it is as cinematic as ever. The pace of the expertly layered guitar, drums, piano, vocals, (and chimes, even?) give me visions of someone walking in slow motion around New York City on a mostly grey late-spring evening, in a quiet turmoil over a fight they just had with their partner - wondering where they go next. A song made for that defining moment in every character’s journey where they have an important decision to make that could very well change the directory of their lives, ‘You Apartment’ conveys that brooding sense of doom in its lyrics while the music keeps the plot moving and even injects some hope with the uplifting tone of the chimes sprinkled in throughout the song.

[Time in the palm of your hand
We both let go together
But I promise, I get your sentiment
I wonder who's been at your apartment
Would you give in, or would you relent?
Who's been tryin' to get in your bed?]

Reflecting on the choices we make and how they affect our relationships and the people we love, the lyrics tell a story of infidelity and the insecurity that creates, no matter how much the couple can forgive one another.

Wallows are gearing up for an insane 2024, keep your eye on this indie band from California!
