Q&A with DRAMA

Starting off with the new single 'Chicago'; can you tell me a little bit about how this song came to be?

We write a lot of songs about romance and heartbreak & thought, what if we wrote a love song to our hometown, the place that shaped us?  we wanted to capture the essence of our hometown combining our roots in House, hip-hop and R&B. As we were working on the song, we couldn’t help but feel like it was missing some kind of official Chicago stamp and decided to shoot our shot at the iconic DJ Pharris who ended up being featured on the track.

I love that you wrote a song for your city, what does the city mean to you? (Its a true love song for your city!)

The city means everything to us, both of our roots run deep here, from the people to the culture, Chicago has it all. We’ve been so fortunate to travel around the world, but nothing compares to the feeling of coming home – Chicago has some of the hardest working people in the world and it 100% fuels our creativity.

Are there any cities that come close to Chicago?

Honestly? No. But we’ve got really good at finding little pockets of home where ever we go, SF, NYC, LA, ATX, Miami, all of these places bring us so much life, we have a really good feeling about Australia too, we are so excited to be visiting

You're playing some iconic venues in Australia- how are you feeling about the tour?

Australia has been on our wish list for years! Our fanbase has been growing non-stop here and it’s such an honor to not only have the opportunity to finally play live for all of them, but to be doing it in these amazing venues it’s really special, It’s so amazing that our music has reached this far! we’re so blessed and grateful!

I love that you re-produce your songs for the live sets- does that make every show new and different for you?

We’re always trying to improve the set, It’s very important to us to constantly be elevating our performance,  the live versions of the songs are a key element to our identity, the music itself is so emotional and heart felt, that we knew we had to make the live shows something electric and special! Our main goal every show is to feed peoples souls and help them release everything they’ve been holding onto that’s holding them back, so in a way? Yes every show is DRAMA but is also 100% catered to the vibe of the room, cause every city is different and when you truly feed off the crowd you can’t help but make every set as unique as the people are.

Is there an extra level of nerves that comes with that?

We get nervous before every show! Weather it’s a small nightclub or an arena, the pressure to inspire and connect is what makes us want to over deliver, we don’t really “go out” that often so it means allot to us to see all the people who collectively come to dance with us, providing a good time worth their while brings us so much happiness! in the end it over powers the nerves, but they don’t ever go away.

If you could describe a DRAMA show in one word what would it be?

Solace.

What can Australian fans expect?

They can expect to fall in love with themselves on the dance floor, or maybe even someone else, it’s a laughing, crying, hot, sweaty dance party for lovers. You can leave your fears and your broken heart at the door DRAMA is for healing.
