Mt. Joy Concert Review
By Lindsey Dadourian
Indie folk band Mt. Joy wrapped up their tour in Philadelphia for two nights at the Fillmore. Saturday, the 11th was sold out and only few tickets remained for the next night. You could feel the buzz as you entered the venue. More and more people filtered into the venue in hopes to hear one of their favorite bands live —- which says a lot as the Fillmore has a capacity of only 2,500. Everyone chatted in excitement for the band. The attendees were treated as Amy Allen, a 23 year old from Maine opened up the stage. The singer songwriter has worked with notorious names, such as Harry Styles, Selena Gomez and Halsey. Allen performed multiple of her songs, including Heaven, which is one she usually doesn't perform.
Soon enough, Mt. Joy was on stage and ready to perform their hit songs, like “Astrovan,” “Dirty Love” and “Strangers”. Each song was a hit from the crowd, as they sang along to all the lyrics and cheered after the songs concluded every time.
They celebrated the last night of the tour by giving the crowd an incredible show, set with a stunning light display during the entire performance. As Philadelphia natives, the band was happy to shout the Eagles chant in support of their hometown team. “E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!” was yelled loud and clear from all the football fans in the venue.
Frontman Matt Quinn gave a heartfelt thanks to his bandmates, their team, Amy Allen, and the crowd, as being able to tour again means the world to them.
No one there was ready for the show to end. Luckily, Mt. Joy concluded the show with an incredible encore, consisting of tracks “Mt. Joy” and “Silver Lining,” and letting off confetti at the end. The crowd was ecstatic and most would definitely agree that it was a very memorable night.
